Holy Scripture is foundational to Orthodox life, but it is never separated from the Church that received, preserved, and proclaims it. The Bible was formed within the worshiping community of the Church, and it continues to be read, interpreted, and proclaimed within that same context. Scripture permeates Orthodox worship, shaping prayers, hymns, and feast days, and forming the spiritual imagination of the faithful.​Orthodoxy approaches Scripture not primarily as a text to be mastered, but as the living Word of God encountered through prayer, worship, and obedience. Interpretation is guided by the teachings of the Fathers and the lived experience of the Church across centuries. Scripture is fulfilled in Christ and experienced most fully when it is prayed, sung, and embodied in the sacramental and communal life of the Church.
